Jeté [ zhuh-TAY]

A Jeté is a common leap performed by dancers in many styles of dance including ballet, jazz and lyrical.  It literally means "to throw" one's leg into the air in a leap.

Originally from Omaha, NE, Kathryn McPherson began dancing when she was three years old.  She studied ballet, tap, and jazz for 15 years.  For four years, Kathryn danced on the Ralston High School dance team, where she served as Captain for two of those years. From ’96-’98 Kathryn was on the University of St. Thomas dance team, while the pinnacle of her dancing career followed, when she danced professionally with the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders from ’98-’00.

She also has experience dancing, choreographing, teaching, and leading dance teams.   She was a member of the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders staff for two years, and coached the Lakeville JV Dance Team in 2004.  Now, she is absolutely ecstatic to be a part of Jeté Dance Centre teaching Dance Fitness Fusion.

Kathryn’s favorite dance memories are those of the wonderful friends she’s made along the way.  Not only have her instructors, coaches, and mentors influenced her dancing skills, but those relationships have influenced the person she has become today.

The most important role Kathryn plays is that of a wife and mom!  Kathryn and her husband, Joe, have two fantastic children, Morgan and Brady.  When she’s not hanging with her family or dancing, Kathryn is working full time at Liberty Diversified Industries in New Hope, MN as a Learning and Development Specialist. Kathryn has her B.A. in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas and her M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Kathryn has a true passion for continuously learning and growing – as a person, in her career, and as a dancer.
